Privacy policy
Summary: We do not store IP addresses in our application logs or databases. The browser profile token is an anonymous, randomly generated identifier — it is not linked to your name, email, or an account. Operational logs we control are kept for no longer than 30 days.

2. Purposes and legal bases of processing
We process personal data only where necessary to provide the search service or where you have given consent.
- Operation of the website and API (limited operational logs for security and reliability — IP addresses are not stored): legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests in secure, reliable operation).
- Search queries and filter parameters: processed to return results and temporarily cache responses for performance. Legal bases: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to contract / performance in the context of a free-of-charge offering) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (service operation and improvement).
-
Browser-stored profile token (
localStorage): an anonymous random string generated in your browser — it does not contain your name, email, or login, and we cannot infer your real-world identity from it unless you voluntarily associate it with identifiable information elsewhere. Optional personalization of ranking weights only; no account registration. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where you consent by using personalization; supplementary Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for operating that feature. - Interaction events (e.g. clicks on results), where sent: used to improve ranking and quality on an aggregated basis. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving the service); you can limit submission via browser behaviour or by not using the feature.
- Optional caching: temporary storage of response caches and profile-related data — only where enabled in deployment (typically same region as the API unless configured otherwise).
3. Categories of personal data
- Technical metadata in application logs where enabled (e.g. timestamp, requested path, user agent). IP addresses are not stored by PeerSeek in these logs.
- Content of search queries and selected filters.
- Anonymous browser-local profile token: a random identifier only — not derived from personal details you give us; deleting site data for this origin removes it.
- Aggregated or pseudonymous usage data for ranking and statistics.
4. Retention
Server and security logs under our control are retained for a maximum of 30 days, then deleted or anonymised unless a longer period is strictly required by law (e.g. a specific legal hold). Cache entries use configurable TTLs. We do not sell cache-held profile data for advertising profiles.
5. Recipients and processors
Hosting, database, or caching providers may process data as processors where required, on the basis of data processing agreements (Article 28 GDPR). We do not sell personal data to third parties for advertising.
6. International transfers
Transfers to countries outside the EU / EEA take place only where a valid legal mechanism applies (for example an adequacy decision or EU standard contractual clauses).
7. Your rights
Subject to statutory conditions, you have in particular the right to:
- access (Article 15 GDPR)
- rectification (Article 16 GDPR)
- erasure (“right to be forgotten”) (Article 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Article 20 GDPR)
- object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Article 21 GDPR)
- withdraw consent with effect for the future where processing is consent-based (Article 7(3) GDPR)
To exercise these rights, contact contact@peerseek.video.
8. Complaints
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR). The authority competent for you is often that of your habitual residence or the place of the alleged infringement.
9. No obligation beyond technical necessity
Pure use of search does not require you to proactively share personal identifiers with us. Network routing outside our application (e.g. hosting provider infrastructure) may necessarily process connection data transiently; PeerSeek does not persist IP addresses in its own logs or databases as described above.
Abuse, complaints & content removal
PeerSeek links to and indexes metadata about videos hosted on independent PeerTube instances. The operators of those instances and the respective right holders are solely responsible for the underlying content.
Reports of unlawful material, alleged copyright infringement, abuse, or requests to remove search results or metadata from this index should be sent to contact@peerseek.video.
Please include the affected URL or video identifier (UUID), a short description of the issue, and, for copyright matters, evidence of your authority to act. We review incoming notices and handle them according to applicable law (for example Article 17 GDPR where personal data is concerned, and hosting / intermediary rules where relevant).
